    Why Extraction?

Many dental diseases in dogs are similar to those in humans. Bacterial infections of the tissue surrounding the teeth cause inflammation of the gums, the ligaments that hold the teeth in place and the underlying bone.

Gum diseases are caused by the build-up of bacteria (plaque) at the border between the gum and the tooth itself.

There are two main diseases caused by inflammation of the gum: gingivitis and periodontitis.

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums resulting from accumulated bacterial plaque.

In periodontitis the tissue damage is more serious and involves the gums, the ligaments and the bone. Periodontitis increases the risk of heart diseases such as endocarditis by up to 6 times.

Extraction very often frightens owners. You should know that it is only carried out when absolutely necessary.
