Dogs and Grapes
By analogy with the fable of the fox, but not quite. For the fox the grapes may be sour, but for the dog they are toxic. For a 10 kg dog, 200 grams of grapes can cause stomach problems, and 400 grams can lead to kidney damage.
The condition is potentially dangerous, so seek a veterinarian.
The first signs are vomiting, loss of appetite and low mood.
With kidney damage the dog hunches its back, has a painful abdomen and reduced urination, most often of discoloured urine, and its body temperature drops. Blood tests are needed to assess kidney function. If the kidneys are affected, then besides controlling the vomiting and pain, intravenous fluids and nutritional support are required. Acupuncture is also an option as supportive therapy.
